For the first time I know my food cost down to the category. Pricing decisions stopped being guesses.

Marisa Cohen

They actually understand what a Square deposit really means after fees, tips, and refunds. My old bookkeeper never did.

Two years of catch-up done in five weeks. My CPA called to ask who finally cleaned it up.

The moment of truth

The Margin Reality Check.

Pop in a typical month's numbers. We'll tell you your real net margin and how it compares to similar shops we keep books for.

The stuff your CPA doesn't ask about

Three things every shop owner figures out the hard way.

Generic bookkeeping tools were built for office businesses. Yours has a till, inventory, a landlord, and at least four people who deserve to be paid on the 15th.

№ 01

Your tools don't talk to each other.

Square, Shopify, Stripe, your bank — none of them know each other. Reconciliation turns into a Sunday night nightmare.

№ 02

COGS isn't a number. It's a confession.

If you can't name your food cost % or product margin on the spot, you can't price with confidence. Most generic bookkeepers never even ask.

№ 03

Your "good month" was a deposit, not a profit.

A big deposit day feels like a win. After fees, refunds, tips owed back, and unpaid supplier invoices, the real number is smaller — sometimes smaller than your slow month.

What shop owners ask

The actual questions we get asked.

Which POS and payment platforms do you sync with?
We sync directly with Square, Shopify, and Stripe. For Toast, Clover, Lightspeed, DoorDash, Uber Eats, and similar platforms we pull data through shared third party logins. Either way, daily deposits, fees, refunds, and tips flow into your books and reconcile against your bank.
How do you handle inventory and COGS?
For most shops we work with COGS at the category level (food, retail, packaging) using purchase data and periodic counts. That's enough to give you a reliable food cost % or product margin every month without turning bookkeeping into an inventory project.
Will you work with my CPA or accountant?
Yes. Your books are delivered in a format every CPA understands, and we'll get on a call with them if there are questions. If you don't have a CPA yet, we can recommend one who specializes in retail and food businesses.
What about tip reporting and payroll?
We integrate with Gusto, Square Payroll, and most major providers. Tips are properly classified in your books so payroll runs clean and your monthly numbers stay accurate.
I'm two years behind. Can you fix it?
We do this a lot — catch up bookkeeping services are one of our most common engagements. Whether you need a one time bookkeeping clean up or ongoing catch up bookkeeping for small business owners who've fallen behind, most shops are caught up within 3 to 6 weeks depending on how many transactions need sorting.
How much does it cost?
Pricing depends on your monthly transaction volume and complexity. We'll give you an honest quote on a 15 minute call, and there's a free trial month so you can see the value before you commit.
